The cable network has confirmed the cancellation in a press release. The fourth season of the series came to an end on August 18, 2009. The cop drama will come to an end in 2010 after a nine-episode run next summer.

Saving Grace served as a natural companion to the network’s The Closer and averaged 3.5 million per episode that aired in the fourth season. In July itself Hunter was nominated for an Emmy for her role as Det. Grace Hanadarko for the second consecutive year.

The 2009 Emmy Awards will air live Sept. 20 on CBS.

In fact, TNT wanted 15 episodes, split between summer and winter for the fourth season, but the studio turned down the offer for financial reasons and instead struck this shortened deal to give Grace a proper send-off.
